Eric J. South

I’m a PhD candidate in the Dunlop Lab and Biological Design Center at Boston University, where I build experimental and computational workflows for molecular sequence design. My work explores how engineered sequences, genetic circuits, and cellular programs can be designed, measured, and modeled to make biological engineering more programmable and efficient.

2027 Synthetic Biology GRS planning is underway

I am helping organize the trainee-led 2027 Synthetic Biology Gordon Research Seminar, held ahead of the associated Synthetic Biology GRC. The seminar will bring together PhD trainees and postdocs to share work spanning programmable biological control, genome and cellular engineering, AI-guided design, automation, sustainable biomanufacturing, and the translation of synthetic biology toward therapeutic, environmental, and industrial applications.
